Nov 20- Write about a time when you realized you needed to look out for yourself in a silly or harmless situation—maybe dodging a pop quiz, escaping a group chat argument, or remembering at the last second to submit an assignment. How did choosing wisely make your life easier?

Response- One time I this guy wanted my number and I didn't like him but I gave it to him anyways. But then my friends started saying how I shouldn't have and was sitting he could get info from my number.  Summary- I didn't want to keep texting him because he was starting to weird me out so I just told him my messages were glitching when he asked why I wasn't texting him and I blocked him. Reflection- There were also times where I tried to get my mom to check me out before a pop quiz but it didn't work. But after blocking him I felt better and stopped worrying the situation.

Nov 18-Describe a time that you had an encounter with a homeless person, either directly or indirectly. What did you think and how did it make you feel?

Response- There is a lot of homeless people that come to my job. Most of them are nice and ask for food and don't really bother the customers. I do feel bad for them and I give them extra food after close if we have any. Summary- But Some of them are kind of crazy or methed out. There's a lot of crazy stories and some of them harass the employees including me. Reflection- I don't think all homeless people are bad, I just think that some of them are not okay mentally but I do try to help when I can.

Nov 17-Prompt: Write about what you are thankful for.

Response- I am thankful for my best friends. I have a small circle of friends but I know that they have my back and I can trust and love them. Summary- They're always there when I want to talk or going through something and I feel like that's rare when there's so many fake friends today. Reflection- I'm very thankful for my best friends and I wouldn't trade them for anyone else. I wonder if other people are grateful for their friends.

Nov 13-Write about the most shocking or “craziest” news story you have ever heard. What happened, and why did it stand out to you? How did people react to it, and what does it reveal about human behavior?

Response- I remember a few years ago this crime case was trending and people were talking about how crazy and sad it was. It was a case about a girl Junko Furuta who rejected this guy and she was abducted by him for 44 days and tortured in the 1980s. Summary- It was a really sad case and she had been murdered after 44 days of being kidnapped. It's scary to think that the reason it happened was only because she rejected the guy she didn't like. Reflection- It stood out to me because it could happen to anyone, and it reminds me of how dangerous the world is.

Nov 11-Describe a place that holds deep memories for you—positive or negative—and explain how it reflects part of who you are or how you’ve changed over time.

Response- A place that holds deep memories for me is my old apartments I used to live in with my mom. I rarely see them because its downtown but it reminds me of when I was little and used to live there. Summary- I always reminisce when I see my old apartments and I think of how much I've changed from the span of 10 years, but I was also just a little kid. Reflection- there are other places that hold deeper memories, especially negative ones but I like to think on my old apartments as it brings back happy moments.

Nov 10-Describe how it was used and whether the context helped you understand the word better.

Response- One of the vocabulary words I have seen outside of school is "incantation". I know this vocabulary word from the name of a horror movie I watched on Netflix.  Summary- The movie was about a girl getting cursed and having to protect her daughter for the consequences of her actions. It helped me understand the word because it's basically what the movie is about. Reflection- Surprisingly I only know two other words from the unit 2 vocabulary so I've got to extend my word bank by learning and studying the new vocabulary that was assigned.

Nov 7-Thinking about “The Rockpile,” which parent or guardian in your life has been the strictest when it comes to discipline? Explain how their approach to discipline has influenced you or shaped your behavior.

Response- My dad is the strictest parent when it comes to discipline. Its definitely helped me be more independent but I also don't agree with a lot of the things he wants for me. Summary- I think it's important for parents to be strict though, it's better than parents who don't care or don't put in the effort. Reflection- When I'm a parent I'm going to be less strict than my dad but if I have a kid I will have rules to keep her/him safe and show discipline when needed.

Nov 6- Thinking about "The Rockpile," what is something your parents forbade you from doing when you were growing up

Response- My dad forbade me from going to this bridge that connects my neihborhood and Lennox mall. This was because the bridge goes over the highway and its dangerous. Summary- So I'm not allowed to go to Lennox mall walking by myself because of that, and there's also suspicious activity. Reflection- I can understand why it's dangerous and also because of the people that live in Buck head.

Nov 3-Think about a time when learning a new word or understanding a specific term helped you better analyze a text, express an idea, or make your writing stronger.

Response- After studying vocabulary, it helped me understand how to read better and improved my grades. Summary- I also started seeing new words I had learned in my everyday life and I could understand it. Reflection- Learning new words is very important because it can help you understand things around you whether it be in real life or school.

Oct 29-Reflect on a time when you paused to appreciate the beauty of nature, Where were you, what did you notice, and how did that moment of stillness make you feel or change your perspective?

response- A time I paused to appreciate nature was when I was a kid and my dad took me on a hike. I was so used to always being in the city that I hadn't really been outside in nature.  Summary- It was good to get outside and enjoy being in nature. It made me feel relaxed but also annoyed from the heat which made it memorable. Reflection- I wonder if other kids feel the same in this day, since technology has taken over the majority of kids lives.
