Response- Over the first semester I've definitely improved in some areas by learning things we do in this class. Something I enjoyed most about this class are class discussions because sometimes we talk about interesting topics and other people's responses are funny. The course I most connected to was the discussion unit. Something I need to improve on is presenting to the class, I'm shy and I don't like presenting things In front of a lot of people because it makes me really nervous, but we do that a lot in this class so I'm trying to adapt to being not so nervous about it.
Dec 16- Many holidays center around traditions. Describe one tradition that is important to you or your family and explain why it still matters (or why it no longer does).

Response- Me and my family celebrate Christmas and an important tradition we have is putting up the Christmas tree. Every year we get a real tree and decorate it with lights and ornaments. It's important because the ornaments bring back memories from the years we've collected them, some being handmade. Another tradition we have is watching Christmas movies on Christmas Eve.
Dec 15- How have the holidays changed as you have grown older? Compare your experiences of the holidays during childhood with how you experience them now, focusing on shifts in perspective, responsibilities, or emotional meaning.

Response- My parents used to tell me Santa was real and other holiday tales like the tooth fairy. I stopped believing them after I turned 7 because my dad would be really loud on the night before Christmas Summary- Back then I was very innocent and viewed holidays more special because I believed in things like Santa. Now I see Christmas as a gift giving holiday. Reflection- I wonder how my classmates celebrate holidays, if they do, and if they enjoy Christmas.

Response- Something I've outgrown but miss is my childhood. I miss being carefree with no worries and being tiny. I had a lot of good memories as a kid and when I didn't have to worry about my future. Summary- But I've grown since being a kid, more specifically being in elementary school. Reflection- We've talked about this topic a lot because of a poem we read in class so I'm pretty sure everyone is familiar of the feeling of growing out of being a kid.

Response- Something I cant stop thinking about is McDonald's. I really want McDonald's and I've been craving it because I haven't tried it in a while. I'm also getting into iced coffee and I want to try their coffee. Summary- Even though I work at chick-fila and eat a lot of chicken there's something different about McDonald's chicken. Their chicken tastes good and I know they're super unhealthy but I haven't gotten to eat there in a while. Reflection- On a second note I also cant stop thinking about my math grade because I'm close to staying at a C. I'm really trying to bring that grade up but he doesn't put in a lot of grades so that's something I'm struggling with

Response- Summary- In class we presented our identity masks and I was nervous to present it but I think I did good on my drawings. Reflection- I liked my other classmates masks I thought the drawings were nice but not gonna lie some of them lacked creativity but overall it was fun to see everyone else present.

Response- The best gift I have ever received was my dog. Before COVID Started I had had a cat since I was born but she had passed away and after a while my mom wanted a new pet. In 2020 when we went into quarantine I was gifted a dog for my birthday in February. Summary- Ever since then she has been my baby and I love her. Nothing can top that gift because I basically raised my dog and I have been with her for five years. Reflection- Im very grateful that my mom got me my dog because I don't know what I would do without her.
Dec 5- Choose one moment from the film that stood out to you and explain why. Then, connect the film’s message to Langston Hughes’ poem “I, Too” and to the mask you are creating in class. What part of your identity do you want your mask to reveal?

Response- A scene that stuck out to me was when the girl took off her mask and proudly walked the halls without one while everyone else just watched her with their masks on. It symbolizes that she had finally accepted who she was and stopped trying to be something she wasn't. Summary- The short film connects to the poem because the characters both end up being proud of who they are in the end and have the same moral messages. Reflection- I want my mask to reveal who I am as a person for my identity assignment.

Response- A moment in my life where I realized I was following something to realize it wasn't smart was when I invested my money in Dubai chocolate. I got addicted to the chocolate and ruined my diet Summary- It made me realize that I was wasting my money on it and I eventually got sick of the chocolate. Reflection- There were other things I was being a follower on but the Dubai chocolate is the only thing I can think of.

response- Over the summer I worked for the first two days and there were only a few rushes so me and my coworkers were chilling. Summary- But after thanksgiving day I went to South Carolina to visit family and ate a lot of food. Reflection- It was overall a pretty good break, I got to sleep a lot and I got a lot of my energy back and time to myself, but I did not want to come back to school.
