March 3-Prompt: After reading Chapter 1 of Into the Wild, consider your first impression of Christopher McCandless. Based solely on the events and details presented in this opening chapter, do you believe McCandless truly understood the risks he was taking when he entered the Alaskan wilderness? Why or why not?

Response- We didn't have time in class to read chapter 1, but we did talk about things we would bring if we went camping alone for months. I chose to bring first aid and a Glock for safety. We also talked about bears and what to do if you see when. We saw a video of a bear chasing someone and it was scary how fast they run, but educated me on how to escape from one.

Summary- I would bring first aid and a Glock to go camping.

Reflection- In class we wrote 12 things to bring camping and talked about how to survive.
